Vadehavscentret - The Wadden Sea Centre

You will find Vadehavscentret (The Wadden Sea Centre) – the gate to UNESCO world heritage, about 10 kilometers south of Ribe.

 

Get close to the nature and animals living in the Danish Wadden Sea at Vadehavscentret, and discover why the Wadden Sea is classified as one UNESCO world heritage sites and part of the world’s cultural heritage.

 

 

Exhibition

The centre is very spectacular. Not only does it house a fine museum and have guided tours, but the building itself is also very beautiful.

 

You may have seen the Danish thatched roofs around in Ribe, but have you ever seen a nearly full thatched house, that looks like it sprouted from the ground like a plant?

 

Visit the Wadden Sea Centre with a friend or take the whole family and learn about the unique nature and the animals of the area.  

 

There are many experiences waiting for you. For example, you can:

 

  • Create your own version of the Wadden Sea with sand and projectors.

  • Examine bones from birds and other animals under the microscope.

  • Listen to native birds singing.

  • Pet a hermit crab.

If you get hungry, you will find food in the Wadden Sea Centre café.

 

Here are both warm and cold refreshments, a light lunch and cake and many items on the menu is organic made.

 

 

Guided tours

Would you rather discover the Wadden Sea up close? Then you can book one of the many guided tours at the Wadden Sea Centre.

 

You are welcome to go out and discover the area without a guide, but if you want the best, spots to see and know the history of the Wadden Sea, then you should consider booking a tour.

 

There is a tour for everybody – the food lover, the animal lover, the active nature lover and the schnapps lover.

 

So do you want so look at seals or native birds? Do you want to catch your very first shrimp or oyster? Do you need herbs for your homemade schnapps?
